Your Spider Veins Keep Coming Back? Here's What Most Clinics Miss

We've shared a lot of cosmetic sclerotherapy videos, and I often get questions about treating spider veins. But here's the thing: treating spider veins is just one piece of a much larger puzzle.

Think of it like building a house. You wouldn't paint the walls before the drywall is even installed, right? If you did, that beautiful paint job would quickly be ruined by cracks and leaks. The same principle applies to your leg health.

The Full Picture: From Foundation to "Fine Touch"

Here's how we approach spider vein treatment to ensure lasting results:

  1. Initial Consultation and Evaluation: When you come in for your first visit, I'll thoroughly evaluate your visible veins and discuss any medical symptoms you're experiencing, such as leg swelling, cramping, or a feeling of heaviness. These symptoms are often signs of underlying issues.

  2. Addressing the Root Cause (Medical Treatment): If your symptoms indicate a medical need, I'll strongly recommend medical treatment for "trunk veins" and varicose veins first. These are often larger, deeper veins that contribute to your symptoms. Many of these medical treatments are covered by insurance.

  3. The "Fine Touch" (Cosmetic Treatment): Only after we've addressed the underlying medical issues and completed rounds of medical treatment will we proceed with the cosmetic work for your spider veins. This is the "paint job" that perfects the appearance of your legs.

Why This Approach Matters

Just like a house needs a strong foundation, your legs need healthy circulation to ensure that cosmetic results last. Without good foundational work, treating only the spider veins can lead to them reappearing or new ones forming quickly.

This patient recently underwent 4 medical vein treatments for her symptomatic varicose veins. After those treatments, we've been able to progressively work on the cosmetic aspects. This phased approach ensures we're not just covering up a problem, but truly improving your overall leg health and the longevity of your cosmetic results.

So, while it's tempting to focus solely on the visible spider veins, prioritize addressing leg swelling, cramping, aching,or heaviness first. We'll take care of the beauty part eventually, and the results will be far more satisfying and long-lasting.
